Modern Day Beauty
For a lot of people, the Datsun/Nissan Z lineup is amazing. It has a history of racing and enthusiastic buyers. Today, the Z line has taken us to the 350z and just this year the 370z. The 350z started in 2003 and since its birth, it has taken the world by storm. People, young and old, men and women, have ventured out to buy a 350z. But why? What makes this car so interesting? Is the the sleek styling? The deep exhaust sound? Maybe the 3.5L V6 that boasts between 287 hp and 306 hp (depending on the year) has young people licking their chops, especially with all the aftermarket goodies it has. Or, it could be the powerful rear wheel drive, sometimes useful to play around with in the snow or rain, or maybe even drift if you are good enough. The aftermarket products for this car are off the charts. There are some exotic body kits, turbochargers and intakes from every major company like Greddy and HKS, rims and tires, suspensions, etc. The aftermarket shopping list for this car is ENDLESS!!! There is a way to make any 350z a unique 350z.
Surely, this car has a lot of pros. But can a car this popular have any cons? For one, the 350z is a two-seater. If you are a tall person, getting in and out can be interesting. Also, the trunk is small the way it is but there is also a beam that goes across the trunk, right under the hatch, that takes up a ton of room. Another is that the 350z is actually heavier than the Chevrolet Corvette. This may actually be a surprise to some people but it is quite true.
All in all, the 350z has certainly found its way into many people's garages and many young people's hearts and wishlists. However, today the 350z is only available used and the 370z has taken over. Personally, I believe that the 370z looks ugly and has taken away some old values for new values, such as taking away the purely manual transmission for an automatically rev-syncing manual transmission. I drive a 2004 350z and can definitely say that it is one of the best cars in the world. This is definitely a car where the driver can go vroom vroom.
